Online Professional Development Courses for Teachers
In an effort to provide options to teachers for quality professional development courses, Jackson Twp. Community Education has partnered with Ashland University to provide graduate classes for teachers.
How to Register for Online Course & 2 Hours of Graduate Credit from Ashland University:
$260 (payable to Ashland University) + $130 (payable to Jackson Local Schools) Total Cost: $390
If you are registering for a class for Ashland credit, you must first register directly online through Jackson Local Schools at http://www.ed2go.com/jtce.
After your registration has been confirmed with Jackson Schools, you can log on to the Ashland website at http://www.ashland.edu/academics/education/profdev//stark/workshops.php to complete your registration with them. Requirements for Graduate Workshop Credit (2 hrs.)
To qualify for two semester hours of graduate credit from Ashland University:
Students must complete all of the quizzes, as well as the final exam. You are expected to try and complete each quiz within two weeks from the time the lesson is released. The minimum score acceptable for the final exam is 75%.
Along with the completion of the online course, students are required to participate in the Discussion area of the class by posting at least five questions or comments throughout the course.
After completing the course, students must submit a one-page, double-spaced paper to jtce@jackson.sparcc.org, explaining how they will incorporate the ideas learned in this course into their classroom.
All coursework, including the final exam and paper, must be received by Jackson Twp. Community Education no later than two weeks after the close of the class. Only Satisfactory (S) and Unsatisfactory (U) grades will be awarded for this course. Students will be notified if their assignment does not meet passing criteria.

Local Professional Development Committees
Classes are designed to meet the requirements of Local Professional Development Committees (LPDCs). However, it is the responsibility of the educator to gain approval of courses through their district LPDC, as courses need to reflect the goals of the Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP). Questions regarding this matter should be directed to the district LPDC.

To request a transcript, go to Ashland's home page at http://www.ashland.edu/registrar/transcrpt.html. Print and send the request via fax or mail to the main campus. Information is at the end of the transcript.*

Question: How long is the course?
Answer: 6 weeks
Question: How many lessons are in each class?
Answer: 12 lessons (2 each week) Lessons are released on Wed. & Fri.
Question: Can I finish the course early?
Answer: No, you must follow the schedule – lessons will not be released early.
Question: Can I take more than one class at a time?
Answer: We RECOMMEND that students take no more than three classes during one session so they have sufficient time to devote to their coursework. However, it is REQUIRED that students take no more than four classes during one session
Question: Are there any tests?
Answer: There is a quiz at the end of each lesson that can be repeated as many times as you need. There will also be a final exam at the end of the class. The final exam can only be taken one time, but you can print a copy to study before you take the test online. Minimum score for the final exam to be accepted is 70%.
Question: Do I have to complete the course on time?
Answer: You have two additional weeks after the final lesson is released to complete all of the lessons, quizzes, the final exam and submit your final paper.
Question: Can I pay by check or with a Purchase Order?
Answer: No. Jackson Local Schools only accepts online registrations with payment by credit card.
